Ingredients
– 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
– 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
– 4 slices Swiss cheese
– 1 tbsp butter
– 4 slices sourdough or rye bread
– 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
– 1 tbsp oil (for grilling)
– 2 tbsp mayo or garlic aioli
– 1 tsp salt
– 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions
1. Sauté mushrooms in butter over medium heat until golden brown and tender (5–7 minutes). Set aside.
2. Mix ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form 4 patties slightly larger than bread slices.
3. Cook patties in a skillet over medium-high heat, 4–5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
4. Spread mayo on bread slices. Layer Swiss cheese, beef patty, sautéed mushrooms, and another cheese slice. Close sandwich.
5. Heat oil in skillet and grill sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
6. Slice and serve hot.
Notes
– Use non-stick or cast iron skillet for best grilling.
– Press sandwiches lightly while grilling to help cheese melt evenly.
– Store leftovers wrapped in foil in the fridge for up to 2 days.
