  • Total Time: 2 hours (includes rise time)
  • Yield: 10–12 donuts

Ingredients

Ingredients:

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup sugar

2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup warm milk

2 large eggs

1/4 cup butter, softened

1 tsp vanilla extract

Oil for frying

3/4 cup fruit jelly (for filling)

Sugar or powdered sugar for coating

Instructions

Instructions:

Combine warm milk and yeast; let sit 5 minutes.

Add sugar, eggs, butter, vanilla, salt, and flour. Knead until smooth.

Let dough rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled.

Roll out, cut into circles, and rise again 30–45 minutes.

Fry at 350°F for 1–2 minutes per side.

Drain and roll in sugar.

Fill with jelly using piping bag. Serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use a thermometer to keep frying oil steady at 350°F. Jelly should be smooth and not chunky.
